Dataharvest/EIJC, The European Investigative Journalism Conference organised by Journalismfund.eu, is the most relevant networking event for investigative and data journalists in Europe. Dataharvest EIJC16 will take place on Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday morning 5 June 2016, with a pre-conference Hack Day on Thursday 2 June.

The web's made from data, so why not report using that data? This workshop will teach you the basics of taking data from a (or millions of) web sites using Python - gathering all the info you need to build an understanding of a dataset that the original website didn't let you see. We'll introduce you to the basic technologies of the web - HTML pages, the HTTP communications protocol and the Python tools that interpret both to let you make robot data gatherers.
